The Chaweng shopping centre and current favourite property developments
The Chaweng new shopping centre by Thailand biggest and most well know shopping group is on track, for opening in March 2014. Judging by the building progress, the levels are now on second and third floor and above the hoarding used for advertising. All looks good for some more upmarket shops, restaurants and most importantly coffee bars for those like me who are avid people watchers. So for all those shoppers out there looking for somewhere else to go, this is an important development in Koh Samui.
In between Chaweng and Cheong Mon continue to be the main focus of buyers of property on Koh Samui. The Tong Son bay area close to Six Senses has proved very popular. There are still only one or two projects on the island that are outstanding performers in terms of sales. Aqua Samui, still building phase one, two and three bedroom villas on the Chaweng hillside close to the Bangkok International hospital are leading the way. They are certainly one of my favoured property developments at the moment for price and quality.
Another development – Unique III in the area locally know as Big Buddha.
Reason: an outstanding location with exceptional sunsets and sea view. Not only for the sea view as when you stand at the finished apartments or villas, then the moving scenery of boats, ferries or fishing boats into the evening sunset are just amazing. With 2 bedroom villas from 9.6 million Thai Baht (one only) with infinity pool then this is really a great investment. Added to the investment are the returns from rentals are anticipated at over 12% ROI. The developer has been on the island now for more than 7 years, so this is proof of his longevity.
